Responsibly beautiful: Pyrrha sustainable fine jewellery goes above and beyond

Pyrrha

Sustainability is a core value ingrained in every decision. To show their commitment, Pyrrha attained the following certifications: B Corp, the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury, Responsible Jewellery Council (certification #0000 4572), and carbon-neutral status. They are adamant about obtaining certifications from unbiased third-party organizations in order to be held accountable to our business practices. As a 1% for the Planet member, Pyrrha has committed to donating a minimum of 1 per cent of their gross sales to environmental initiatives.
      Each piece of jewellery is handcrafted from start to finish from 100 per cent recycled metals in a zero carbon-certified studio in Vancouver, BC. The studio—comprised of a fully restored heritage house and newly built production tower—is a juxtaposition of the old and the modern, just like Pyrrha jewellery.
      The tower is built to run off renewable energy by installing a geo-exchange system that uses a geothermal pump to draw energy from the earth. Other sustainability features include:

  • cross-laminated timber construction, a sustainable building material, an alternative to fossil fuel-intensive concrete;
  • smart windows that tint automatically according to the positioning of the sun, reducing energy usage;
  • a bird and bug habitat that serves to increase biodiversity in an urban environment.
  •       The sustainably built studio and third-party certifications are a testament to Pyrrha’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility.
          So why is their flagship store in Los Angeles? It’s a love story between the founders–designers and this diverse city. LA’s creativity and dynamic music and arts scene stole their hearts. Moreover, they discovered a community here that shares their passion for preserving our planet.
